Our Cabinet Refinishing Process

Great results start with careful preparation. Here’s how we approached this transformation:

1. Removed and organized everything. We carefully removed the cabinet doors, drawer faces, hinges, and hardware. The doors and drawer faces were taken to our shop, where we could give them a smooth, controlled spray finish.
2. Protected the kitchen. Before starting any prep or painting, we covered and masked the countertops, floors, appliances, walls, and surrounding surfaces.
3. Prepare every surface. We thoroughly cleaned, sanded, and de-glossed the cabinetry so the primer and finish coats would bond properly.
4. Repairs. We filled and sanded chipped areas, repaired a damaged cabinet door, and adjusted the doors above the refrigerator so they would sit and operate correctly.
5. Caulked and primed. We sealed cabinet-door seams and gaps around the crown, base, and adjoining walls before applying a professional primer.
6. Applied the new finish. We finished the cabinetry with two coats of Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Enamel in Jasper Stone with a durable semi-gloss sheen. We spray-finished the doors and drawer faces at our shop while completing the cabinet boxes and fixed panels inside the home.
7. Put everything back together. Once the finish was ready, we reinstalled the doors, drawer faces, and hinges. We also installed new pulls and fresh bumper buttons.
8. Took care of the final details. We completed touch-ups, cleaned the work area, and walked through the finished project to make sure everything met our standards—and the homeowner’s expectations.

We also refreshed the entry door, sidelight, and frame with a durable enamel finish that coordinates with the home’s existing white trim. The completed space feels lighter, more cohesive, and ready to be enjoyed for years to come.
